5 Persons Feared Killed as Robbers Invade Two Banks in Ikere Ekiti

At least 5 persons were feared killed on Wednesday, the 13th of December, 2023 when armed robbers attacked two commercial banks in Ikere Ekiti, Ekiti State.

According to reports pieced together by Radio Nigeria, the armed robbers arrived the Wema Bank at Oke-kere, Ikere Ekiti around 4pm and started shooting sporadically and used tear-gas to scare people away.

Despite these, the robbers couldn’t gain entrance into the bank and killed something persons in the process.

The robbers then subsequently left Oke-kere for Oke-Osun where they attacked the branch of Access Bank there, killing two security guards and carting away unknown amount of money.

Also, reports say the robbers dropped some explosives at the Ikere roundabout which eventually blew off and destroyed a car.

Throughout the time the robbers operated, no security agents could be seen anywhere around the metropolis.

As at the time of filing in this report, an official statement from the Ekiti State Police Command was being awaited.
