The coordinator of the Ekiti South development agenda Hon ldowu Afuye has described the endorsement of Chief Bisi Kolawole by the former Governor of Ekiti state Chief Ayodele Fayose as his anointed aspirant as an expensive joke.
There has been wide speculations that the former Governor of Ekiti State, Chief Ayodele Fayose has picked the chairman of the Peoples Democratic Chief Bisi Kolawole as his anointed aspirant ahead of the 2022 governorship election.
But his media aide and the Publicity Secretary of PDP southwest Mr. Lere Olayinka said it was a rumor noting that the party had not released any guideline regarding the governorship election.
Afuye in a statement signed by his Special Assistant on Media Mr. Oyebode Babajide said the action of the former governor shows that he does not have respect for internal democracy.
Afuye said apart from the fact that it was the turn of the south senatorial district to produce governor, it was also uncalled for for a leader like Fayose to at a time like this endorse any aspirant just as he did during the last election where he imposed his deputy on other aspirants and such action ruin the parry chances.
He alleged that the annointed candidate of the erstwhile governor refused to meet the group despite booking appointment with him, not knowing it was because of his governorship ambition.
Afuye said , being the chairman of a political party, nursing a governorship ambition, is like closing door for other aspirants of the party , saying nobody can be a judge in his own case.
The coordinator of the Ekiti South development agenda further advised other political parties especially the All progressive Congress against imposition of candidates saying such negates the principle of internal democracy , as Ekiti is too civilised for a stooge to govern.
Afuye further said it is the turn of the south senatorial district to take a shot at governance saying, the people of the zone is ready to leave no stone unturned to achieve their aim.
He urged the people of the state to consider the plight of the district, and urged all political parties and leaders to be considerate and pick candidates of southern extraction as their candidate.
Afuye used the medium the medium to call on prominent politicians from the zone come out and contest for governorship in their various political parties, and urged them to support.the group and the south agenda.
