2021: Keep Hope Alive, Segun Oni Charges Ekiti People

A former Governor of Ekiti State Chief Segun Oni has felicitated with people of Ekiti State over the grace of God that kept them to witness the new year.

Chief Oni in a statement in Ado Ekiti urged them to keep hope alive and be courageous.

The former Governor stressed the need to give deepest appreciation to the Almighty God who has kept everyone alive to see the new year and to navigate through the tough, turbulent and dark clouds of 2020.

He said “Let us rejoice in the hope that 2021 has offered us the unique opportunity of self-assessment, stock-taking and reorganization that can birth a new thinking and a new perspective in our set goals.

“As we count ourselves lucky to see the new year through the grace of God, let us not forget that obedience is better than sacrifice in complying with the COVID-19 safety protocols, even as we grapple with the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic.

“While we must continue to sympathize with the families of our beloved ones taken from us by this mutating virus and pray for their souls to rest in peace, let us strive to abide by the new normal of wearing masks, washing and sanitizing our hands and maintaining physical distancing.

Chief Oni urged people of the state   to keep hope alive in 2021, demonstrate courage, show resilience, and believe that God had given them the knowledge and strength to face and overcome challenges.

“We must start from the self, evaluate our priorities, avoid procrastination, pursue realistic goals and apply wisdom in everything.

On the state of the nation: this is the year to adopt purposeful dialogue, critically appraise our fault-lines, commence the restructuring of Nigeria in practical terms and seek an enduring solution to our challenges.

“This is the year to assemble our very best at every level and apply ingenuity to unleashing the vast potentials that are abundant in Nigeria.

“To my people of Ekiti State: We can never get tired of exploiting our homogeneity to build the greatest community of love and a society of fellowship and purpose. As we strive to work harmoniously to build a Resilient and Compact State, we must keep hope alive in limitless possibilities.
